midnite in moonlite...

I'm sure from the title of this entry you're probably materializing in your imagination some hot date on a warm summer evening...well, you're right! Tonite I actually had a hot date...with my runners, God, and a moonlit road. Not the most ideal date in most people's books, or probably what you had in mind as a juicy blog to read, but I pounded the silver pavement just the same, every muscle in my body screaming for some other mode of transportation...every emotion basking in the wonder of a vast evening sky and the peace of a country road. It was silent (apart from the huff and puff of some big bad wolf and the thumping of my heart reminding me I am still human!) as the world was well on it's way to bed (a place where I should have been!) I love running at nite - despite the stalkers and drunks my mother is always reminding me are out there. It is the only time I truly feel alone and peaceful. No one sees. No one distracts. No one is competing for my time. Silence fills my aching ears. Darkness soothes my tired eyes. And God is there. In a moment of shutting out the world...I can open my heart and mind to Him...and His voice brings calm as He sings over my weary soul and lulls my heart to rest. So often we get caught up in the busyness of our day to day cycle we forget to go to the places where we meet God. Wherever that may be - spend time there often. For me it's a lonely stretch of road in the darkness of nite...

That's the same reason I like biking in the pre-dawn morning.
